Android is the Google operating system for mobile phones and tablets, which directly competes with Apple's iPhone and iPad. Multiple devices on a variety of networks support this system. Major companies that manufacture Android phones are Samsung, Motorola, LG, and HTC. Android devices are smartphones or tablets and include the features associated with these devices; however, specific features vary from device to device. Common features of Android devices include messaging, phone calling, Internet access, apps, multi-touch, multitasking, and Bluetooth capability.1
